Wade’s collection, reportedly numbered at 25,000, was taken over the many years he worked for various railroads from approximately 1940 to the 1980’s. By the end of his railroad career he worked for the Milwaukee Road in Othello, WA as a machinist's helper.
According to a 1961 article in “The Milwaukee Road Magazine” published for their employees, Wade had contributed dozens of photos for “Trains”, “Railroad Magazine”, and a book “Western Trains”. He died April 12, 2006, in Othello.
Originally the entire collection went to the Milwaukee Road Historical Society; they in turn, split it up and donated pictures to NPRHA, SP&SHS and GNRHS. GNRHS was given 1506 black & white negatives. Unfortunately, very few had and notes or captions, so we are enlisting help from our membership in identifying and indexing locations, equipment etc
